Elijah McLean Home

Dr Elijah McLean Home (1834-1839)

"Edgewater"

This large southern colonial-style brick is located at 600 West Front Street. Two and one-half stories, it has an addition in the rear. It also has a one-story front porch. It has a central hall, open stairway with unusual offset hinges duplicated in restoration of outside shutters. The tile found under the concrete porch was duplicated (imported from England) to restore the porch floor. Dr. McLean was one of the earliest physicians in Washington and served, 1830-1832, as a state representative.
